Prior to leaving home:
- Make your own reservations, as early as possible.
- Be sure your reservation is for the correct camping loop (some parks reserve by loop, others do not)
- Be sure that your site is paid in full before the 1st day of the campout (preferably 3-4 days ahead).
- Let the scout know of your reservation, and check the campout page, later, to be sure you are on the list.
- Check the campout page & forum somewhat frequently as the campout nears, and especially prior to leaving home. You are looking for updates, info, etc.
- Check the potluck signup area, and sign-up with the potluck dish you plan to make.
- If there are no spots available, have the scout put you on the waiting list.
At the campout:
- Check in at the park office and accept whatever site they assign to you, knowing that you can claim any open site with a SETPUCC sign on it when you get to the camping loop. Except for parks that reserve by site #.
- When you check in ask what site # the scout is in, then try to find the scout(s) to let them know you've arrived. Find out (from the scout) if there have been any changes to the schedule, where the potluck will be held, and when, etc, etc.
- [This is advice] Be a little aggressive, walk around and strike up conversations with other members, if you see a small gathering of members, step up and introduce yourselves. If you need some help setting up, just ask.
- We usually gather at a campfire at one of the campsites every evening of the campout. Find the gathering and bring a chair, this will help you get to know your fellow SETPUCC campers.
At the potluck:
- We start setting up the potluck about 1/2 hour prior to the posted time.
- Bring your own chairs, plates, drinks, knives/forks etc.
- Bring a table during setup time if you can spare one.
- While we try to wait for late comers, please make every effort to get there on time.
- We take a group photo, near the potluck location, just prior to lining up to eat.
- When we line up, we try to let any elderly folks and parents with small children (up to about 4) that need assistance go first, then we go by family.
